Dick and Jane, II

Here is a second Dick and Jane quilt, this time with a royal blue in place of the red, and a sky blue in place of the blue in the original. I really like how this turned out, and I liked being able to rethink the colors. Sometimes when I choose fabrics, it's hard for me to see things a different way. This was a great exercise for my brain.

Now the question is the border. With the first quilt, I had chosen a light yellow with corners made out of the Dick and Jane bubble fabric. I liked how it worked with the first, because all of the primary colors were prominently represented. I think it also looks nice here, and has kind of a soft feel, perfect for a baby. I also really like the bubble fabric, with the characters in circles, also pulling in the dots found in the main part of the quilt.

Here is option two. It keeps the yellow in the quilt, but uses it as a narrow first border. The outer border would be this fabric that I like to describe as a bead curtain.
Any thoughts?

I love them both, but I think the darker border makes the pastels in Dick and Jane II pop! You are very creative, JLK!

I have such fond memories of Dick and Jane and Sally and Spot.

You've done a wonderful job capturing their fun-filled lives in your quilts. Just adorable.

I like the brightness of option one. It really perks the quilt up. How fun and colorful for a new baby!

Option 1 with a light blue border.

I prefer the dark border- another color you may want to consider for your skinny border is red- nothing like complicating your decision :O)
It is a lovely quilt - and perfect for a small child.

They both look great, but I would probably go with option 2. A great way to use the Dick and Jane fabric.

I know exactly what you mean about rethinking colors. I have a pattern & I like the cover quilt so much that I have had an excessively hard time thinking of it in a different color way.

& I love Dick & Jane - my collection of "go withs" will probably become a log cabin - at least that is the current plan.
